💡 Important: Former Terminal 1 Airlines
Terminal 1 closed in November 2025 after more than 60 years of service. Check-In at Terminal 2
The check-in area is located on the upper level of the terminal. It features a large, modern hall with self-service kiosks, automated bag drop machines, and traditional staffed desks. Large flight information screens direct you to the correct desk number for your airline and flight.
Manchester Airport recommends arriving at the terminal at least 3 hours before long-haul flights and 2 hours before short-haul European flights. Security at Terminal 2
Terminal 2 has two fully operational security halls equipped with advanced CT scanning technology. This speeds up the screening process considerably.

Tip: Speeding Through Security
- Have your boarding pass (digital or printed) and photo ID ready before you reach the security entrance.
- Wear shoes that are easy to slip off — you may still be asked to remove them.
- Coats, jackets, and belts need to go in a tray.
- Although T2's CT scanners mean you can leave liquids in your bag, items flagged on the scan may still need a manual check.

Getting to Terminal 2

The Multi-Storey Terminal 2 car park is the flagship facility — a large, modern structure located directly opposite the check-in hall, connected by a short covered walkway. Terminal 2 Layout & Key Areas
Terminal 2 is split across multiple levels. The check-in hall is on the upper floor, with security leading into the departure lounge. The departure lounge is laid out as a long "High Street" with shops and restaurants on both sides, leading to the gate areas. There are two piers — Pier 1 (opened 2019) and Pier 2 (opened late 2025) — the latter of which features double air bridges capable of handling the Airbus A380.
